For many a year, the Old Post Office on Huddersfield Road has been an absolute staple for great food built from fantastic, locally sourced ingredients - so it goes as no surprise to us that their new winter menu looks amazing!
Priding themselves on their Yorkshire roots, they use farmers that are just as passionate about quality ingredients as they are - plus are huge advocators of smaller size produces too across the region.
So, if you’re heading to their their place between now and the end of the year, what can you expect from their winter menu?
To kick things off, the guys here have got everyone covered, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The team of chefs have also expertly constructed a menu which not only provides you a three course meal experience, but gives you the opportunity to hand pick your own steak at the table, or even delve knees deep into one of their unreal meat platters (£75 each) which are perfect for you and the mates/family.
But, if you’re the kind of person who likes to channel their inner “Smithy" (from Gavin and Stacey...) and you’re simply not into the sharing game, their new menu includes an array of freshly prepared starters which range from their homemade soup of the day, to their brand new scotch egg accompanied by burnt onion purée and black pudding and apple salad (I know, Yorkshire at its finest!)
For your main course, they’ve got a great selection of steaks across their grill, not to mention their gourmet chicken or beef burgers, lemon and rosemary chicken, and who could forget the legendary Barnsley Chop?! (All served with chunky chips or skin on French fries, grilled tomato, flat cap mushroom and onion rings)
To begin the festive period, their main menu selections are varied ensuring that there’s something for everyone! From their Old Post Office Fish and Chips, to their pie of the day. Or even their butternut squash or Sea Bass Fillet might do the job for you?
The team have also rustled up a variety of sides to sit alongside your meal, with onion rings, halloumi fries and their Parmesan and truffle chips all set to become firm favourites!
If you’re wanting to make it a full house, their desert menu is also worth a cheeky look, with plenty of mouth watering cakes and sweet treats that will perfectly compete any wintery evening out!
