'Bonfire Night', better known as 'Guy Fawkes Night', is quickly approaching us, and we’re all eager to learn what Barnsley has to offer this year!
The famous night takes place every 5th of November to mark the failed 17th century attempt by Guy Fawkes to blow up parliament and assassinate the reigning king.

So, what's going off across the town?
Starting off, Wombwell Maine's C&Sa are hosting a fireworks event on Friday the 4th of November. With the gates opening at 17:30, it is the perfect event for family and friends. There will be a kids fair ground and a range of food available waiting for you to feast on. Options include burgers, hotdogs and pizzas - what more could you ask for? This is located on Hough Lane, Wombwell, Barnsley.
On the big night itself, Penistone Show Ground (S36 6DW) are holding a bonfire and fireworks display. Open to all, It is the ‘Biggest and best’ show yet, with gates opening at 18:30, the bonfire lighting will take place at 19:00 and fireworks set to light the sky at 19:30. Cannon Hall Farm's bonfire spectacular event is also back for 2022! Taking place on November 6th, it is the perfect day out for family and friends. Not only can you see their variety of animals and reptiles, but their range of playgrounds will be available so the kids can explore safely. Targeted at younger children, the fireworks are set to music ensuring an extra layer of entertainment fills the sky. This is a full day event, with a kids disco at 13:00, bonfire at 16:30 and fireworks at 18:00. Costing £12.96 per person, you can find Cannon Hall on Bark House Lane, Cawthorne, Barnsley.
