Barnsley Live is back for 2023, and it could be the best ever!

Updated: May 31, 2023

Barnsley Live is back for 2023, once again providing local musicians a platform to showcase why the towns music scene is as strong as ever!

If you’re new to the area and never experienced Barnsley Live before, prepare yourself for a plethora of music genres spread across over 20 venues around the town centre, all mapped out for you via their app. Plus (and here’s the best bit) all the venues are absolutely FREE to enter!

Barnsley Live made a massive comeback to the town’s summer schedule last year after the Covid pandemic previously caused havoc to gigs and events across the country. Now, we at Best of Barnsley desperately needed something to look forward to, so we were all too pleased to hear that we finally had a date to stick on the dog calendar we got for Christmas.

As the January blues take hold, the team behind the festival have been quick to announce that this years festival will take place on Saturday 17th of June, and like you, we just can’t wait to attend one of the biggest annual day events the town has to offer!

But not only do Barnsley Live provide an unrivalled local platform for musicians, each year the festival teams up with a local charity to help raise vital funds and awareness for. Barnsley Hospice are the lucky beneficiaries this year, an organisation so firmly woven into the the fabric of our town due to their outstanding work in offering specialist palliative and end of life care to local people living with a life-limiting illness.

The Barnsley Live team have already teased that this could be the best incarnation of the festival so far, with applications already flying in to play the event.
