Sharon Hall of Unleashed Events says “We are excited to be hosting our first comic-con in Barnsley and we are looking forward to being at The Metrodome. If you have never been to a comic-con before then Barnsley Comic-Con will be a great place to start as it has a little bit of everything for everyone, no matter what your age!

From another galaxy Unleashed Events have got some out of this world sci-fi guests for you to meet. First guest is better known as the pompous hologram Arnold Rimmer in Red Dwarf, a role Chirs Barrie has played since the show started in 1988. The Red Dwarf crew were doomed to drift in space for the rest of eternity in their damaged mining spaceship.

Chris was also the disaster-prone manager, Gordon Brittas, of the Whitbury-Newtown Leisure Centre in the popular sit-com The Brittas Empire.

Joining Chirs will be the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. Peter made the role his own as the Doctor who liked all things Victorian and Edwardian; cricket, tea, fair play, good manners and with a unique sense of style as he wore a stick of celery on his lapel. Peter shot to fame in 1978 as Tristan Farnon in the BBC's television adaptation of James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small stories.

No sci-fi line up would be complete without an actor from a galaxy far, far away and reporting for duty is Garrick Hagon, who starred as Biggs Darklighter, an Alliance pilot and one of Luke Skywalkers closest friends, in Star Wars: A New Hope. As well as appearing in Star Wars, Garrick has had many roles including being Bruce Waynes father in Batman, TV programs such as The Crown and Doctor Who as well as providing the voices on many video games due to his distinctive accent. All guests will be available for fans to meet as well as obtain autographs and selfies.

Get your camera ready! Staying with the sci-fi theme you padawans and older Jedi won’t want to miss the opportunity of sitting on the throne of the infamous bounty hunter, Boba Fett or posing alongside the Mos Eisley Misfits, an amazing Star Wars costuming group.

Cobra Kai continued the Karate Kid franchise and you can step into dojo to pose for your photo…just remember ‘pain does not exist in this dojo’ but a big smile does! The photo opportunities don’t stop there as around the venue you will see loads of Superheroes along with Ghostbusters and Slimer, the massive Transformers, Iron Man and Spiderman…...a great opportunity to grab those ‘wow-factor’ Instagram photos!

Also, don’t forget to check out the free to play retro gaming and the display areas including sci-fi models, dinosaurs and a back to the 80s section. You can also be instantly transformed into a geeky character in the face painting area which will make your day even more memorable.

As well as guests and attractions there are comic creators, authors and loads of geeky traders with tons of geeky toys, comics, collectables, art, jewellery, gaming and so much more…there is something for everyone! You can also enhance your day by coming along dressed as a TV, movie, game or anime character and entering our cosplay masquerade with a chance to win some amazing geeky goodies.
