Barnsley has seen an immense rejuvenation recently, and although the food and drinks scene is growing, the family fun and entertainment is not to be missed!

5) ELSECAR PARK
Created back in the 1930’s, Elsecar Park makes it onto the list of your favourite fun activities to do around Barnsley at number five. This award-winning site with iconic band stand has truly stood the test of time with fascinating wildlife walks, bird watching and reservoir fishing (license required) perfect for that Sunday afternoon out of Saturday lunchtime picnic.
They also have a children’s play park on site with access to toilets and a café on site too, and even mini golf available through the café. If your looking for the perfect quiet day out so unwind and relax Elsecar Park has got you covered.
4) METRODOME
Barnsley’s very own Metrodome is one of the highly rated venues on the list at number four with their title as Barnsley’s only amusement park it’s clear to see why families love what the Metrodome has to offer.
With a 25 metre lane pool, diving pool with 1meter, 3meter and 5meter platforms, Calypso Cove water play park, bowling alley, events venue, gym facilities and more it’s clear to see why the people of Barnsley love this facility.
Located 5 minutes from Barnsley town centre and the bus/train station its accessible for all for a great day out come rain or shine.

It’s to be expected that in a list of fun activities & games in Barnsley that an unlimited play arcade makes it into the top five. Retrodome Barnsley, hosting an array of old and new arcade machines in fantastic working order for all the family to enjoy.
Pay once on entry and everything inside, with the exception of food, is unlimited play at no further cost! Fancy trying to smash that high score on pinball for a few hours or want to school the kids on the dance machines and show them how it’s done this arcade has something for everyone.
To top it off if this isn’t quite for you yet you know the kids would love an afternoon out, they do have a fully licensed bar on site as well.

1) OPERATION LASER TAG
The reviews have spoken, the number one activity in Barnsley by reviewer ranking is Operation Laser Tag who offer various mobile game packages of laser tag, soft dart (NERF) or tag archery that can be located and set up for varying game types and events.
With their assortment of inflatable canons, boxes, and barrels they can setup and create a unique game play experience each time. Get your camo paint on and call your mates over as they can be hired for indoor and outdoor event spaces and supply everything you need for a few rounds of laser tag!
