Make shopping that little bit more special in Barnsley!

Barnsley town centre is bursting to the brim with unique, individual businesses that everyone needs to experience at least once. Around every corner something new is found, from vintage sportwear to vibrant antiques- whatever you want, I’m sure Barnsley has to offer.

Right in the heart of Barnsley is their lively and historic markets, showcasing over 100 stalls. It is almost impossible to walk away with your hands empty, from books, to jewellery, to individual clothing brands, Barnsley markets is one of the largest in the North of England so it’s impossible to avoid. And with them being a stones throw from the train station and bus interchange, and a range of parking options, you have no other option then to get your shop on in this modernised tradition.

As we move further down onto Doncaster Road, Barnsley antiques centre offers a surprise around every corner with their weird and wonderful selection. Being an established centre for the past 6 years, their bits and bobs have grown into some of the most popular vintage and retro antiques. The bizarre treasures are open to be seen and bought between 10am and 4pm every day except Thursdays.

If you’re looking for a more rustic experience, The Victorian arcade found in the centre is perfect for unique shopping with the hint of tradition. As you walk along the cobbled streets, the array of designer boutiques, homely coffee shops and Victorian tea rooms oozes with sophistication- making it an experience you wont regret. Some of the shops they have on display, include Kingston Jewellers, The Closet Queen, and Aroma Café Bar. You can make it a full day out all on the same street!

The Cooper Gallery is not first into your mind when you think of shopping, however its more then meets the eyes. Their café and shop located inside holds an endless selection of handmade, artistic items, such as jewellery, textiles, pottery, and many, many more. These exquisite items make excellent gifts whether for yourself or for a loved one (perfect for the run up to Christmas). This makes this artistic location a one-of-a-kind, shopping and a hint of history.

And for the vintage lovers out there, 80s Casual Classics (Originals) is one of the most popular independent, retro, sportswear store. Specializing in classic style trainers, this store offers clothing by most major brands including Adidas, Fila, Ellesse, Lacoste, Puma, and Reebok. The reviews even boast about the reasonable prices and variety of colour and ‘retroness’, highlighting how the customer service goes above and beyond.

Despite the countless collection of unique shopping experiences here in Barnsley, we managed to narrow it down to just 5; 5 of which we feel you should definitely try out to make your days that little bit more special.
